I caved

July 11th, 2012 at 10:59 pm

Today I bought the chips and dip I resisted yesterday. I went to the store to get the coleslaw and sunflower seeds for the ramen noodle salad I want to make. I haven't eaten any chips and dip yet, but they are ready for my snack later. Short list: chips, dip, nutmeg, coleslaw mix, and sunflower seeds.

I tried to go to bed early last night to "cure" my tiredness, but it didn't help. I'm still tired today. I also felt just blah all day. I did walk at break and for the 1/2 of my lunch that I didn't spend running errands. Not sure what's up with me. Vacation letdown?

I did find $1.86 on the ground today. I felt like I was on candid camera when I walked past not one, but two meters with quarters on the ground near them. I can understand someone leaving a penny because they are in a hurry, but 85 cents? I looked around to make sure there wasn't someone who just dropped the, but no one was around. Lucky for me, but felt a bit strange.

Day 11 Numbers:

Spend: $13
Left: $217
In: Found $1.86

I recall reading that cravings for a particular food was due to a specific need and foods like potato chips translated to a call for salt. It was explained away as being dehydrated [salt helps body retain hydration] and suggests drinking 6 oz of water to see if the craving abates.

We all have times we cave. Hopefully you are feeling more rested.

I feel that way too when I get a big windfall like that. I also feel that way when someone drops a silver dime by the Coinstar machine.

Raw almonds (not roasted) help me with the cravings - they take the edge off. I keep some in a little homemade snack bag in my purse.
